080 BARCELONA DAY TWO – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Today was good for womenswear at Barcelona's 080. Cardona Bonache delivered a punchy, upbeat collection, using printed leathers, saturated tones and structured shapes. I was very keen on their orange leather jacket worn over a zipped black dress.

The two designers demonstrated they could offer simple pieces with a twist, like this little black dress worn with leather sleeves.

Black was also Txell Miras' reference point for her beautiful collection, focusing on sexy, smart separates that could be layered and worn in multiple ways. Her leather pieces were luxurious and sleek.

It's funny how people always tend to associate Spanish fashion with bright colours and loud statements. Many local designers are actually quite minimal and worship black, even when their clothes are more extreme. I had a great example of this when I discovered Luis Manteiga's pieces, who won the ModaFAD prize last year.

I'm happy to point out that Luis didn't wear any black. Some may call him the new enfant terrible of Spanish fashion, he nevertheless seemed sweet and cooperative when I talked to him.

Best,
