Austin Sherbanenko at his NYC presentation, a beautifully improvised "tableau vivant"

Dear Shaded Viewers,

I've been following Austin Sherbanenko's work for a few seasons now and am always intrigued by his take on clothes, using all kinds of media -such as video, performance, photography or music- to give us an insight into his world. His last presentation -called "Five"- was a celebration of spontaneous thought, with improvised live music, no fittings and last minute styling. Given the raw sophistication of his pieces, such an approach seemed perfect.

Shoes were also impressive this season, with major ponyskin boots that looked incredible.

Frayed edges, washed out tones, bleached cotton and crumpled fabrics set the mood. Models walked around, changing and choosing the clothes they were going to wear. Austin also sent me a video, which he directed and showed during his presentation. I love the grainy black and white, as well as all the textures it shows, acting as a great complement to the collection.

Best,

Philippe
