It's been great, the WONDERWOOD fragrance is woody, exotic and sensual…the film is amazing and I was very happy with the seating arrangements, on one side our host, Adrian Joffe and the other Christian Astuguevieille and in front of me the Quay Brothers.
Timothy Quay was totally fascinated by the process of creating WONDERWOOD and could not stop asking Christian Astuguevieille questions on how it started and what the steps were.
He was convinced that there had to be a bit of madness involved with the process.
While we were chatting we realized that the three of us grew up outside of Philadelphia and that they went to Philadelphia College of Art at the same time that David Lynch went to University of Pennsylvania. We both claimed Man Ray as a Philadelphian but admitted that we did not discover that until after we had moved to Europe and England.
DInner ended around 10h30 so that Adrian could go back to Claridge's and watch the election results.
I highly recommend WONDERWOOD, I might even switch from time to time between my CdG Avignon, which I'm totally addicted to, and WONDERWOOD because it has the woody notes but also Patchouli and Vetyver. As soon as I can, I will screen the Quay Brothers WONDERWOOD film on my site. I have already requested it for ASVOFF 3, it is the best perfume film that I've seen so far.
As we sat at the table we all thought that if Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Peter Susskind would be remade, since all of us liked the book and none of us liked the film, that the best director for that would be the Quay Brothers. They will be in Paris next week at Forum des Images May 11 and 12th.
Later,
Diane
