"Late last year I had the idea with my friend Jerlyn, a graphic designer and artist, to start a blog that was dedicated to criticism. The idea was to approach a broad spectrum of topics relating to aesthetics from a thoughtful, critical stance. Things don't have to be termed 'serious' in order to warrant being taken seriously-oftentimes parts of culture which are categorized as 'Pop' have as much significance as accepted elements of the classical canon. It's all a matter of perspective and being open-minded-being willing to take fashion, music, design, art, film, advertisements, anything and everything, seriously, if there's a serious case to be made for why they mean something. I asked Diane to write a piece and I'm really happy with how it turned out. In her case, it's more of a first-person philosophical creed – she has an obvious connection to a particular aesthetic, and in her writing you can better understand how the way she looks relates to the way she lives. Her appearance is s conscious decision that reflects a larger orientation towardslife-a decision to stand apart in a space that she has created for herself. That's what personal style should be.

I try to update the site once or twice a week, and I've roped in a bunch of friends who are writers to contribute on a semi-regular basis. If you have the time and an interest check back whenever you feel like it.
