Dear Shaded Viewers,
Greetings! I’m currently here in Kuala Lumpur for the 2008 Malaysia International Fashion Week. It’s a fun, festive event held at the newly-opened The Gardens Hotel in the Mid Valley area of KL.
In addition to Malaysian talent, a variety of Asian designers from Thailand to Russia presented their collections since Wednesday. Today is the last day of the shows. I found it very interesting how Malaysia is positioning themselves to be THE hub in showcasing Asian fashion.
Here in KL, I made a friend with Pakistani photographer Tapu Javeri. He’s one of the sweetest men I’ve ever met. Papi Tapu was very generous and kind to provide me runway shots — photos that are much better than the ones I took using my own camera.
By the way, I love you Sonny V but it doesn’t hurt for a boy to have two bearded daddies, especially one who doesn’t smoke, drink and whose only vice is dancing to the Spice Girls. 🙂
Moving along… the ceremonies started with a spectacular dance show.
Some of the designers who showed their collections include Ding Yong from China
India’s Jattin Kochhar
and my compatriot from the Philippines, Joey Samson
Later,
