Dear Shaded Viewers,
There was no electricity in the entire Palais du TOkyo tonight which was the location for both the exhibition and the award ceremony for Woolmark. Sonia Rykiel was the official patron of the Merino Woolmark Prize. The impressive jury included Sally Singer, Vogue USA, Veronique Phillipponat, Elle, Olivier Sallard, Curator Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Sarah Lerfel, COlette, Vanessa Friedman, Financial Times, Sarah Mower, Style.com, Valerie Steele, FIT . Terry Jones and Gabriele Hackworthy, Vogue China. The winner receives, not a check, but aid in sourcing material, production, presentation and the promotion of a collection. Colette, will carry exclusive stock of a limited edition garment to be designed by the winner of the Woolmark prize and produced in collaboration with Woolmark. Qiu Hao went to Central Saint Martins and before that studied interior design at Suzhou University. Suzhou is the little Venice of the orient. I went there 21 years ago, I am quite sure that it does not look the same.
Here are a few pics from the evening and one of the winner and his sculpted knit.
Seen at the WOOLMARK Event:
Like at JP Gaultier, there was a neon thing going on and Sonia Rykiel really did not look this pink and Shoji and his friend were really not blue people.
