Ruby – the Haute Couture of Motorcycle Helmets – made in France

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Ruby_in_the_box

When I was visiting Tranoi during the salons in Paris, the first installation that got my attention was the Ruby Motorcycle Helmets. Not surprisingly the collection was inspired by Steve McQueen, Science Fiction and the great tradition of French luxury. French designer Jerome Coste, the creator of Ruby, claims his new Ruby line of helmets has nothing to do with the six head traumas he’s survived.

The chrome plated trim around the edge of the helmet, the steel badge and the luxe lining made from nappa lambskin which is reminiscent of the beauty of a vintage sports car. THe nappa lambskin is chosen not only for its suppleness but also for its anti-bacterial properties.

All Ruby helmets are manufactured from carbon fibres, a technology from the aerospace industry that guarantees maximum strength and ultra lightness. He sold his own motorbike to finance his production. “As soon as I sell enough helmets,” he says, “I am going to buy myself a new ride, probably a Triumph.”
