Christine Yufon wears NEON shot by Marcelo Krasilcic

Dear Shaded Viewers,

It’s only been a few days since I’ve returned from Brazil. Aside from FilmeFashion where Dino Dinco and I presented You Wear it Well, the highlight certainly was our meeting with DuDu, one of the designers behind the label Neon and the sculptor and accessory designer Christine Yufon.

On the first night that I arrived in Sao Paulo I starting hearing about the artist and accessory designer Christine Yufon. Word had it that she was 90 years old and that the energetic woman passed Taoist messages through her sculptures and accessories. On my last day in Sao Paulo designer DuDu Bertholini, one half of the coolest label in Sao Paulo, Neon, took me to meet her. Neon, is designed by the eccentric duo of DuDu Bertholini and Rita Comparato both born in Sao Paulo in 1980 and their brand is known for sexy, glamorous and wildly colourful silk togas, kimonos, bathing suits, dresses and oversized abstract prints. DuDu explained to me that it took several months before he could get an appointment with the enchanting artist, Christine Yufon, but ever since they met they have been working together on all of the Neon shows and editorial shoots.
