Maria’s film is about the relationship between the artist and the critic. The documentary was shot at the festival of Cannes and gives us a real behind the scenes view. Normally all we ever see is the red carpet and the flashbulbs. It is totally enjoyable and informative, I found myself laughing through the intimate revelations on both sides. I cannot remember exactly the opening line but I think that it was Ken Loach describing the relationship between the director and the critic as being the same as the relationship between a dog and a lampost The analogy being the dogs are the critics and they use you in the same way that they do a lamp post.
