Dear Shaded Viewers,
You might have wondered what brought me to Kazakhstan. It is simple, twice a year I teach a 4 week class in design at the Paris Fashion institute. Last June Saida Azikhan was my student. She is the best testimonial one could have, in less than one year she managed to put together her first collection, showed at Almaty fashion week and in mid June will be opening her first boutique. I am totally impressed, to say the least. Saida Azikhan invited me and fellow journalist, Robb Young, double trouble, to celebrate her first collection. Today I will give you a teaser of double trouble in Kazakhstan.
Saida Akikhan will be opening her boutique on the first floor of this shopping mall mid June. Kazakhstan has an abundance of casinos.
Saida lent me her coat for the 3 nights of fashion shows at the foothills of the mountains
Robb had his own animal jacket
Third day in Kazakhstan Robb and I decided to visit the national museum.
Saida Azikhan took Robb Young and I to the mountains , one thing that you can say about Robb and I is that we are more urban than country but a little nature is good for the soul.
We had a bit of a lace moment with the insert in the Boucheron invitation
Double Trouble in the hallway of the Regent Hotel
Saida Azikhan models one of her looks, more on Almaty fashion week in a few days.
Saida Azikhan outside the shopping mall and in front of her billboard in Kazakhstan
Mukhtar Tuyakbayev, the proud husband of Saida attends his first fashion show and cannot wipe the smile off of his face. One would be hard pressed to find a happier couple than the two of them.
Starting very soon you will be able to read the personal diary entries of new and cherished contributors Glenn Belverio reporting from New York, Robb Young reporting from London and Angelo Flaccavento from Italy.
Take care,
Diane
