Dear Shaded Viewers,
This doc CUTS has been 19 years in the making the subject is the hair salon in London called Cuts and was founded by James Lebon during the post-punk , New Romantic scene of the early 80's and is still going today. The doc is a social history of the times, a mix of fashion , music and art built around the haircut. Patrons included Leigh Bowery, Christopher Nemeth, Boy George, Tom Dixon and John Maybury. It is where the club kids went to get their hair done. Paula Yates interviews James Lebon & Steve Brooks on her TV show The Tube at the beginning of CUtS. Times changed, things changed in the mid 80's with politics, AIDS and everything else and one of the founders, James Lebon left for New York and Steve Brooks took over running the Ladies and Gents barber shop in Soho. He took on 3 new partners. In addition you will see the changes that Soho went through from the mid fifties to now.
