Yesterday in Beijing I went to visit the designer Vega Zaishi Wang at her atelier with my friends Yvette Tang and Flora Lau. Vega is considered one of the brightest stars in the new generation of Chinese designers. She studied at both London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins and did internships with both McQueen and Westwood. Her entire first collection was bought by the actress Bingbing sounds like Isabella Blow with McQueen…
Vega was one of 100 designers chosen to represent emerging talents at ORIGIN in VIncenza and actually it was Stefan Siegel who alerted me to the fact that I was in Beijing and so was she so I should make the time to visit her. It was not so easy finding her in the Hutong (small alleys in lines of siheyuan, courtyard residences of Beijing but we were determined to get there and we had a great driver, the boy from Beijing. I'll post some images of the clothes shortly but for now just listen to her telling her story.
