PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI REPORTS ON ART BRUSSELS

009

Dear Shaded Viewers,

The 29th edition of Art Brussels was as dynamic as ever, with a flurry of activity and influential artists. It's a key international event, with galleries from Paris, Mumbai, New York, London or Berlin showcasing their best talent. I was glad to see one of my favorite Peter Lindbergh prints there, which was originally published in Vogue Italia.

I talked to Bart Vanderbiesen, who runs Base-Alpha Gallery in Antwerp. He represents young, upcoming artists and has been working with Frederik Heyman, whose images I love.

013

It was inspiring and interesting to have a look around. I saw lots of fluorescent tones, which made me smile as it's one of the biggest fashion trends this summer. Even though this is no longer the 90s -when Helmut Lang's work was on the cover of Artforum – there are still some interesting crossovers between the two fields.
