Virgin and the scale

Sameer Reddy will be participating in the inaugural LA edition of Printed Matter's Art Book Fair http://laartbookfair.net/about, at MOCA, from Jan. 31st until Feb. 3rd. He will have a table in the Zine World section of the Fair, where he will be staging a fair-long performance rooted in bibliomancy - divination through the use of books. Specifically, he will be offering readings using the Tarot, as well as a new deck that he has created, (divination decks are considered a collection of unbound pages that comprise a living text), and he will offer copies of his first artist book, Eight Meditations on the Nature of Truth, for sale.
Then he moves on to a solo show, Sameer Reddy: Apokalypsis Now Institute 193 which opens February 15th and goes through to March 9th. The show consists of a performance and an exhibition of the Brooklyn-based artist, curated by Tali Wertheimer. Reddy's work is about spiritual potential and employs imagery appropriated from religious iconography, advertising, pop culture and fairy tales.
