Geraldine Postel opens her new gallery in normandy with DIGITAL GARDENS at L’AbRi December 16 by appointment

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Geraldine Postel is no stranger to the art world after having both physical and virtual galleries in Paris and beyond, she has now put her roots in Normandy. Villerville is the location of L’AbRi it is situated between Deauville and Honfleur in Normandy. DIGITAL GARDENS is a group exhibition that brings together international artists and pioneers of the digital arts going from sculpture, painting, digital prints and other installations. Her goal is to have you experience and interact with the works on exhibit.

L’AbRi is located in a private property which is designed and directed by Géraldine Postel, originally this space was the safe of the former post office which later became an abandoned cellar. To enter you go through a humble garden once inside you are encouraged to experience a moment of exchange and a refuge. This gallery is open to the public however you must make an appointment.  The appointment only concept makes it possible for the viewer to receive the undivided attention of the curator in order to discover the work and the key artists behind the work.

The interest of the appointment is to transmit information, and for the novices, better explanations to manipulate an AR application or to experience the 360 degree immersion thanks to a VR (virtual reality) headset. The event also provides an opportunity to see the works over time and the key artists behind them.

It is a special experience that is meant to be conducive to a real exchange and moment of life, at a time when the values inherent in these modes of communication and digital artistic achievements or NFT that may seem more distant are being discussed.

Géraldine Postel has observed the fragile state of the art industry in a post-Covid world where multiple struggles and wars are at a boiling point.

AbRi already conveys a sense of renewed strength and notions of resistance in the face of the adversity of the world around us.

DIGITAL GARDENS, brings us back to dreamlike things, while keeping the relationship between the physical and the digital, always taking precedence over the aesthetic sense, the feeling, by simply using the tools that this last century puts at our disposal.

3 free applications can be downloaded on your smartphones to experience certain works: ARTIVIVE, CONTINUUM and MARIE MAILLARD on i-Phone and Android. You can already glimpse a work in augmented reality: ORB, by Valéry Grancher – by activating ARTIVIVE and framing the work reproduced in Ouest France. The first AR work is presented in the daily newspaper, in the print or digital version. During your appointment you will be able to have a full description and experience of each work with an AR function, among them: LUMINIUM and VALÉRY GRANCHER on ARTIVIVE, NAO OKA on CONTINUUM and MARIE MAILLARD on her own application.
