INDIPENDENT/ROME curated by Alessio de’Navasques for ASVOFF 10 at Palazzo Altemps for the first edition of Videocittà

Dear Shaded Viewers,

As part of the 6 day two city celebration for the 10th Anniversary of ASVOFF, Alessio de’Navasques curated a project dedicated to independent Italian fashion magazines. It was conceived as a choral installation dedicated to creativity in the form of a film that winds its way around the Renaissance rooms containing a treasure trove of classical sculpture in the Palazzo Altemps. The Altemps, BoncompagniLudovisi and Mattei families hosted Indipendent/Rome.

Frames, slide shows, videos were projected inside the rooms where sculptures like Galata Suicida – the reliefs – Ludovisi throne – frescos coexisting with a cross-section of visionary projects and intangible digital images.

Rome the ‘eternal city’ is celebrated contrasting the past with the present.

The magazines selected for the project – Alla Carta, BrUTO, Cap74024, Collectible DRY, Grey, Rivista Studio – have selected a photographic project from their archive that tells their “personal love Affair with Rome” theme of the special contest launched to celebrate 10 years of ASVOFF in the Eternal City.
