Festival of Avignon is celebrating its 69th edition and is curated this year by Olivier Py. The opening of the festival was an adaptation by Olivier Py with Shakespeare's "King Lear". It took place in the courtyard of the Pope's Palace ( Palais de Papers).
The festival welcomes more than 3,500 professional performers from around the planet and are located in 30 different locations around the medieval city such as the cloisters, chapels and gardens all transformed into stages. Also in the program is the play “Richard III” by the german Thomas
