DAPHNE.LAB × MARRKNULL Join Forces at Shanghai Fashion Week

At Shanghai Fashion Week, DAPHNE.LAB and MARRKNULL unveiled “IN A HURRY,” a collaboration that considered the pace and pressure of modern life. The collection reflected on how speed shapes identity, offering a refined yet energetic take on contemporary dressing and the realities of a generation living in constant motion.

DAPHNE.LAB, recognised for its confident silhouettes and experimental use of materials, brought a bold wearability to the partnership. The brand’s emphasis on individuality and self-expression grounded the collection in a contemporary femininity that feels assured yet adaptable. MARRKNULL, founded by Tim Shi and Mark Wang in 2016, contributed its sharp conceptual vision and forward-looking approach to garment construction. Known for challenging the conventions of dress, the Beijing-based label continues to redefine the parameters of Chinese design on an international stage.

Together, the two brands produced a cohesive vision defined by contrast and control. Bright pinks, black leather, and flashes of leopard print set the tone for a show charged with movement and youthful confidence. Key looks included the layering of belts to create skirts, oversized fur hats paired with mini skirts and gloves, and the consistent presence of stacked bangles and clutched bags. As the show progressed, denim and trench coats appeared—some worn backwards—as if thrown on in a hurry, yet somehow perfectly composed. The final looks shifted toward less conventional silhouettes: floor-length dresses with metallic finishes and sheer mesh gloves styled with embellished eyewear.

The underlying message was clear: this generation must be prepared for anything—any season, any opportunity, any moment. It reflected both designers’ shared belief in imperfection as an intentional form of expression. The result was contemporary and grounded, made for a generation accustomed to change yet intent on self-definition.
