Dear Shaded Viewers,

This morning in Paris, over a leisurely breakfast with Grace Lillian Lee and her partner, the conversation flowed as effortlessly as the coffee. Grace is in the midst of a whirlwind moment—her first couture collection fresh in memory, her Paris residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts just underway, and a string of career milestones stacking up like impeccably tailored looks on a runway. I first met her back in July, during Paris Couture Week, where her debut collection brought together a rarefied guest list—among them Andrew Bolton, the visionary curator of The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and none other than Jean Paul Gaultier himself. The fact that both fashion royalty and the art world’s elite were there for her says everything about the energy and importance of her work. Her residency, began on July 7th—the very opening day of Couture Week—felt like the perfect continuation of her meteoric rise, with Paris itself becoming her atelier, stage, and muse.
