Redefining Menswear: “FLY WITH IM MEN” Brings Issey Miyake’s Vision to Berlin’s Art Scene

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Berlin is set to host a compelling intersection of fashion, art, and technology this autumn. From September 10 to October 11, 2025, the renowned ANDREAS MURKUDIS store on Potsdamer Strasse will be transformed by the “FLY WITH IM MEN” exhibition, coinciding with Berlin Art Week. This event positions itself not merely as a display of garments but as an immersive journey into the evolving language of menswear, courtesy of IM MEN, the innovative label from MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO.

Founded in 2021, IM MEN is not just another offspring of the legendary Issey Miyake lineage; it is a deliberate exploration of clothing’s potential—as object, process, and philosophy. At the heart of the brand is the idea of “a piece of cloth,” a nod to Miyake’s enduring quest to blend body, movement, and materiality into something new. For IM MEN, design is never divorced from engineering; garments are not simply constructed but engineered, the result of a shared laboratory where traditional crafts and advanced technology are equally at play.

The Berlin installation will feature selections from the AUTUMN WINTER 2025/26 collections, with each piece pushing the boundaries of what contemporary menswear can be. Original textiles, woven and dyed using a calibrated mix of cutting-edge technique and time-honored skill, will be on display. The result is clothing that is at once rigorous and playful, functional yet wholly unexpected—objects that invite curiosity and demand interaction.

But beyond its aesthetic achievements, “FLY WITH IM MEN” is notable for its spirit of collective creation. IM MEN’s design team operates more like an atelier than a conventional fashion house, with members delving deeply into the possibilities of structure and material, openly sharing their experimental processes. This approach echoes the ethos of Issey Miyake’s early “im product” line, which championed the meeting of practical design and the unpredictable needs of daily life.

The exhibition also forms part of an ongoing international conversation. Earlier this year, IM MEN debuted its collection in Paris during Men’s Fashion Week, and the Berlin chapter draws on the dialogues sparked in France, widening them to Berlin’s own vibrant creative community. The hope is to foster new connections—not just among fashion insiders, but across the broader cultural landscape—as society and clothing continue their perennial dance.

Admission to “FLY WITH IM MEN” is free, with an opening celebration on September 9. In a city celebrated for its openness to experimentation and cultural cross-pollination, the arrival of IM MEN promises to be a highlight of the upcoming season—one where the art of clothing is stretched to its furthest, most evocative limits.
