EGONLab. Goes Back To Breton SS26.

Dear Shaded viewers,

Season by season, EGONLab. co-founders Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix think of new ways to transcend time and our expectations with collections that reimagine historical themes for a futuristic style sensibility. For SS26, they sought out a personal story to tell, arriving at Rene Glémarec, one of the co-founders’ grandfathers, as a source of inspiration. The collection, IN MEMORIAM looks back to the designer’s Breton roots and heritage with avant-garde theatricality and effortlessly elegant modern-day wearability.

Sculptural silhouettes and accessories dominated this collection, punctuated with oversized lapels and cuffs, and cape-like cocooning hoods. While structures were bold and lines were crisp, tailoring itself was soft and fluid with soft curves and loosely hanging shoulders, clear and distant like family ties. The colour palette was largely monochrome, infused with muted, coastal shades in smooth and sensual textures that left a raw and warm feeling.

Historical references characterised each look in a minimalistic, almost dandy way. Details like talismans, breastplates and knotted rope embellishments were distinctly nautical, while wooden attachments on clutches and slips of doily lace felt homey.

The closing look was a porcelain-covered shirt layered over 300 hours by Flávio Juán Núñez, known as the master sculptor of haute couture, working in an almost forgotten artisanal craft.

Later,

Eliya
