LITKOVSKA: A Ukrainian Fashion Force Expanding in Japan

Dear Shaded Viewers,

This spring, Ukrainian fashion brand LITKOVSKA is making waves in Japan, solidifying its presence with three striking art installations in Tokyo’s premier retail spaces. These installations not only showcase the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and cultural storytelling but also highlight its dedication to social responsibility.

At Dover Street Market Ginza, LITKOVSKA unveils its second art installation, a collaboration with renowned photographer Nick Knight. This installation features mannequins dressed in white, symbolizing purity and new beginnings. The centerpiece is the LITKOVSKA x Nick Knight capsule collection, a poetic fusion of Knight’s floral imagery and Lilia Litkovska’s meticulous craftsmanship. Beyond its artistic appeal, the capsule supports the City of Goodness initiative, aiding Ukrainian women and children affected by war. This project exemplifies how fashion can transcend aesthetics to become a vehicle for hope and resilience.

LITKOVSKA’s installation at Estnation Tokyo invites visitors to reflect on kindness and protection through the theme Become Someone’s Angel. Featuring traditional Ukrainian vytynanka art by Daria Alyoshkina-Starukh, the display encourages viewers to embrace their role as guardians for others. QR codes integrated into the installation direct visitors to donate to the City of Goodness foundation, reinforcing the brand’s mission of merging art with humanitarian efforts.

At Isetan Tokyo, the Artisanal installation pays homage to heritage and defiance. Two canvases in Ukraine’s national colors frame the Azov Prayer, honoring Mariupol’s Azovstal defenders. Mannequins dressed in black upcycled artisanal pieces stand as symbols of resilience and remembrance. This installation underscores LITKOVSKA’s ability to weave historical narratives into contemporary fashion.

With 18 retail locations across Japan, LITKOVSKA continues its global expansion despite challenges in the luxury market. Each new space reflects the brand’s ethos: blending art, tradition, and social responsibility. From Paris Fashion Week to Tokyo installations, LITKOVSKA is crafting a narrative that resonates deeply with audiences worldwide.

LITKOVSKA isn’t just a fashion label—it’s a movement. By intertwining Ukrainian heritage with modern artistry and activism, it stands as a beacon of resilience and creativity on the international stage.
