Stefano Gallici’s Los Angeles Odyssey Through “KIDS” for Ann Demeulemeester

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Stefano Gallici’s KIDS series for Ann Demeulemeester is a deeply personal exploration of creativity. His first chapter explored European creative hubs like London, Paris, and Berlin. His second delved into New York’s underground art scene, this installment immerses itself in LA’s dynamic blend of music, cinema and street culture. Gallici’s personal connection to Los Angeles adds depth to this chapter, as he describes the city as a place where creativity flows naturally and intuitively for him

Los Angeles is no stranger to reinvention, and for Gallici, it represents a dynamic playground where music, cinema, and street culture converge. “Every time I return, there’s this immediate sense of familiarity,” he reflects. This sense of belonging has allowed him to channel the city’s energy into a project that feels as organic as it is collaborative. Unlike traditional fashion campaigns, KIDS operates as a living diary—a platform where art, music, and fashion intersect in unexpected ways.

For this edition, Gallici assembled a cast of creatives who embody LA’s multifaceted spirit: actress and singer Sophie Thatcher, producer Chris Greatti, musician Dove Armitage, film archivist Bella Scaffidi, and musician-model Nico Geyer. Each participant brings their own narrative to the table, enriching the project with layers of authenticity. Their contributions are not merely aesthetic; they form the emotional core of KIDS. As Gallici puts it, “This is about cultivating a community rather than just collaborating.”

The project’s ethos is rooted in spontaneity. A moment during the shoot at Sophie Thatcher’s Hollywood Hills home encapsulates this perfectly. With Belle and Sebastian’s The Boy with the Arab Strap playing in the background and golden light streaming through the windows, Gallici describes how “everything fell into place.” It’s this kind of serendipity that defines KIDS—a project that thrives on intuition and connection.

Visually, this chapter leans into LA’s rawness through the use of Super8 film. The medium’s imperfections mirror the city’s unpolished charm and provide a tactile quality that feels increasingly rare in today’s digital age. Longtime collaborator Jason Renaud joined Gallici in capturing these moments, ensuring that every frame resonates with authenticity.

Beyond its visual appeal, KIDS represents a broader cultural shift within Ann Demeulemeester under Gallici’s leadership. It redefines what a fashion campaign can be—transforming it into an evolving narrative that amplifies emerging talent while fostering genuine connections. In doing so, it stays true to the brand’s legacy of blending art with fashion while pushing its boundaries into new territories.

As Gallici continues to explore uncharted creative landscapes, KIDS remains a testament to his belief in the transformative power of collaboration. With Los Angeles as its backdrop, this chapter not only captures the essence of a city but also reaffirms Ann Demeulemeester’s commitment to celebrating diversity and creativity in its purest forms.

More on Gallici cast of creatives:

Chris Greatti is a Grammy-nominated record producer, songwriter, guitarist and singer. His music is known for its genre-bending and chaotic DNA that’s rooted in heartfelt songwriting and virtuosic musicianship. In recent years, he’s helped shape sonically diverse bodies of work with artists like Willow, Yves Tumor, Aurora, Grimes, Poppy, Yungblud, The Dare, Yeule and more, leading to the development of his own idiosyncratic sound that can be as hard to classify as it is to ignore.

Dove Armitage is a multidisciplinary artist, poet, and producer crafting immersive worlds through sound and imagery. Blending avant-garde pop with ambient textures, trance-laced percussion, and field recordings, she creates sonic landscapes where softness collides with distortion. Rooted in poetry, esoteric storytelling, post punk riffs, and video game music, Armitage’s work spans mediums but always returns to experimental sound design and language. Each release becomes a portal—haunted, intimate, loud, and tender.

Isabella Scaffidi is a writer, model and film archivist based in Southern California.

Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Isabella first moved to Los Angeles at 17 after being scouted by a modeling agency. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, she enrolled in the University of Southern California where she first fell in love with film and began volunteering in the archive on campus.  After a sudden loss in her personal life, Isabella left her modeling contracts and took solace from her grief in the archive. No longer the object within the image, but caretaker of images. The meditative and embodied nature of the work restored her sense of sense, while inviting a close proximity to loss and impermanence that she found incredibly healing. Isabella has since spent hundreds of hours in the freezing cold vaults of a movie theatre basement, restoring old projectors, and preserving lost, forgotten and deteriorated objects.

Isabella graduated from USC with a BA in Comparative Literature and Cinema and Media Studies. She currently works across three archives in Los Angeles, and continues modeling freelance while searching for new representation.

Nico Geyer is a musician living in his home town of Los Angeles where he is the singer and principal writer for Nitefire, an alternative rock band he started during the pandemic. Nitefire garnered attention with their spectacular backyard shows in 2022 and have since released three EPs. Their debut album is slated to be released in late 2025. In addition to playing in the band, Nico is an avid photographer that dabbles in video direction, shooting fashion, documentary, and music.

Sophie Bathsheba Thatcher is an independent artist of multiple mediums, drawing references from her vast music and independent film knowledge and love of the craft.  As an actress, she had her breakout role opposite Pedro Pascal in Prospect and soon became known for her key role in the hit show, Yellowjackets. Most recently she’s led the critically acclaimed horror films Heretic and Companion. As a musician, she released her debut EP “Pivot and Scrape,” last fall, and continues to record currently.
