Arturo Obegero’s Latest Collection: A Tribute to Spanish Heritage

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Arturo Obegero, the Spanish fashion designer known for his dramatic and theatrical approach to fashion, has unveiled his latest Spring/Summer 2025 collection, titled “El Amor Brujo” (The Bewitched Love). This collection marks his tenth and is a tribute to the revolutionary 1924 ballet of the same name by Manuel de Falla, as well as an homage to the late Spanish film director Carlos Saura.

“El Amor Brujo” is deeply rooted in Spanish folklore, drawing inspiration from flamenco and the art of bullfighting. It pays homage to Obegero’s creative heroes, including Cristóbal Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent, while also celebrating the work of photographer Ruvén Afanador and dancer Antonio Gades1. The collection is a culmination of Obegero’s decade-long exploration of his brand’s signature style, which he describes as “minimal-drama” with a focus on craftsmanship, sensuality, and a unique je-ne-sais-quoi.

Headpieces are inspired by Spanish peineta combs, Obegero and milliner Coco Lucquiard created handcrafted headpieces in red moiré and black velvet.

For the first time, Obegero designed his collection entirely on an iPad, which he credits for enhancing his creative process by allowing rapid iterations and flexibility. The collection’s fashion film, directed by Kelly Chan Wing Kiu and shot on an iPhone, is a testament to the fusion of technology and craftsmanship in modern fashion.
