Dear Shaded Viewers,
For Autumn/Winter 2025, ROKSANDA finds inspiration in the powerful sculptures of Phyllida Barlow. Barlow’s bold exploration of materiality and form, using repurposed materials to convey fragility and transformation, directly informs ROKSANDA’s own design language.
Texture and colour were the driving forces of this collection, featuring unconventional fabrics and bold hues. Fringe-spiked raffia, fil coupé tapestry, and large sequins embellish garments and details. Signature dresses revealed their construction, while sharp tailoring was tempered by soft organza panels. Elsewhere, sculptural drama was created by oversized jackets, full coats, and sponge-panel skirts. The interplay of sheer, light gowns with heavier, structured pieces established a balance of lightness and weight.
Roksanda’s signature colour sense was clear: bold pairings like copper brown and Yves Klein blue contrasted with the ethereal beauty of painted pink dresses and gowns in lavender, cornflower blue, and buttery yellow.
By drawing inspiration from Phyllida Barlow, Ilinčić has created a collection that challenges conventional notions of beauty and celebrates the power of creativity to transform the everyday. The collection showcases the designer at the height of her powers, creating pieces that are both visually stunning and intellectually stimulating.
Later,
Bethany
