Dear Shaded Viewers,

I met Lucie at ASVOFF 16 through our mutual friend, Lyne Cohen Solal. She expressed an interest in sharing her work with me, so we arranged to meet over tea for that purpose.

Lucie, a recent graduate from Institute Français de la Mode (IFM) in Paris, has gained valuable experience through two six-month internships at Rick Owens, focusing on textile research. This experience has bolstered her confidence in creating her own fashion brand.
Her design philosophy is deeply rooted in architectural concepts, exploring how to translate structural elements into wearable forms. For her graduate collection at IFM, Lucie’s primary focus was on creating a strong visual impact rather than emphasizing practical wearability.
As Lucie transitions from academic projects to establishing her own brand, she faces the challenge of balancing her artistic vision with commercial viability. We will be watching to see how she evolves her design aesthetic from conceptual showpieces to wearable art that can appeal to a broader market. Her background in textile research at Rick Owens may prove invaluable as she develops innovative fabrics and techniques to realize her architectural inspirations in clothing form. The coming years will reveal how successfully Lucie can navigate the transition from promising graduate to established designer, potentially carving out a unique niche in the intersection of architecture and fashion.
Later,
Diane
