Dear Shaded Viewers,
Balenciaga has officially touched down in the Texas capital, opening its first standalone store in Austin. Located within The Domain, a mixed-use urban center, the new store spans an impressive 6,137 square feet, showcasing the latest collections for men and women.
In keeping with Balenciaga’s “Raw Architecture” concept, designed to challenge traditional notions of luxury spaces, the store’s construction prioritises existing elements and sustainable practices. The façade, a unique blend of glass, porcelain, and quartz, responds to the Southwestern landscape. Backlit concrete panels behind glass adorn the structural columns, seamlessly integrating the store with both the urban environment and the surrounding desert flora.
Reflecting the area’s earthy tones, interior surfaces are predominantly neutral grey. Brushed slab and poured concrete floors are combined with areas of carpeting, while others remain raw. Walls and partitions showcase an industrial aesthetic, clad in patinated concrete panels, hot-rolled steel with the distinct marks of its fiery creation, and smoked glass.
The arrival of Balenciaga in Austin marks a significant milestone for the city’s fashion scene. The new store joins a prestigious roster of luxury brands at The Domain. Now open to the public, the store invites fashion enthusiasts to experience the brand’s unique blend of luxury, innovation, and artistic vision.
Later,
Bethany
