Shaping Up at Viktor&Rolf FW24

With a tongue in cheek-chic approach, Viktor & Rolf consistently position themselves at the vanguard of conceptual haute couture- this season being no exception. Before an eager audience that waits like a kid for a rabbit to be pulled from a hat, they reveal their latest collection.

Inspired by the mushroom cloud shaped bodices of their earlier work, Viktor & Rolf have repurposed these exaggerated volumes, shapes and angles in a new shiny, colorful, mix-match palette. Sharp angles and hyperbolic volumes mark this season with a bold, childish quality that plays out so uniquely in tandem with sculptural, new-wave makeup and hair which effectively underscores the indelible glam-factor of it all. A textile kaleidoscope. A panoply of fun.

“Haute Abstraction” comes to play; to pull at the seams of what is serious fashion- all while maintaining absolute devotion to their craft. These models look like perfectly wrapped presents- tempting and taunting with glistening wrapping and extravagant silk bows. Until now, I had never wanted to look like a sphere, or a pyramid, but, now I’m not so sure.

À toute,
