Jacquemus Celebrates 15th Anniversary with Sun-Drenched “La Casa” Show in Capri by Bethany Berkeley

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Simone Porte Jacquemus, renowned for his penchant for enchanting shows, transported his guest to the modernist Italian villa Casa Malaparte for his latest show. Usually closed off the villa sits on top of a cliff in the idyllic isle of Capri. Jacquemus chose the building as an ode to one of his favourite movies ‘“Le Mépris”  by Jean-Luc Godard, which was also a key inspiration for the collection.

The show kicked off with a look that paid homage to Brigitte Bardot’s iconic character in Godard’s film. Anok yai glided down the runway draped in a fuzzy canary yellow coat, channelling a luxurious bathrobe. The collection offered a range of contrasting silhouettes. Structured textures and sharp lines defined dresses and coats, often featuring dramatic portrait collars. A-line skirts and stiff frocks with flounced tops provided a more classic feel. In counterpoint, the show also featured flowing garments: sheer mousseline long skirts offered a touch of romanticism, while sensually draped jersey dresses, cut out in the back or on the sides, showcased glimpses of leg and thigh.

As the show progressed there was an added a touch of whimsy, as the occasional zebra print  was splashed across coats and pencil skirts, hinting at a more sophisticated air. For men, the same pattern played up the brand’s signature playful spirit, joining forces with classic marinière stripes and flowy, below-the-knee pleated pants.

Guests on the day included none other than Gwyneth Paltrow, Dua Lipa, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and model of the hour, Blackpink’s Jennie Kim, who closed the show in a dramatic black dress, featuring a voluminous skirt and a daringly bare back.

As Jacquemus continues to bring us amazing collections season after season, it’s a given the brand has become a big contender in the luxury sector. However, Simon Porte Jacquemus- now a father and a designer- states that he is “Thinking of the brand’s longevity,” and from the looks of things so far there’s a bright future ahead.

Later,

Bethany
