Isabel Marant is known and loved for her contemporary reinterpretations of vintage styles and this collection is no exception. It’s a 21st century take on 80’s athleticism. Marant references classic vintage brands like Members Only, Patagonia, and more through colorful abstract printed fleece jackets, beige bombers with monochromatic chest emblem branding, acid washed faux-denim jackets in a baggy sweatshirt-esque cut, and color blocked chevron polos. With chunky sneakers to match! The casual, colorful, and sporty color ways feel very California as well. Light layers, soft fabrics, funky prints, and beach to gym to casual diner appropriate pieces create a capsule of clothing which could be thrown together in nearly any manner to create a cool and fresh look. That is of course if you don’t fear pattern-clashing. I’m informed by staff that Isabel Marant is not a brand for the man unfamiliar or uncomfortable with his femininity- I think that’s a safe bet. Think- mauvey pink for the modern man, beaded raffia totes, and tight tank tops in a very open knit.
Now Isabel, what do you think about bringing back those short gym shorts? I want to see some thighs!
Xoxo,
