Pressiat’s “Belle de Pigalle” Grand Dames enter the Maison Close – Photos of @iamhalsey by Sam Dameshek and catwalk by Etienne Tordoir

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Vincent Pressiat was inspired by film director Luis Buñuel  merging Belle du Jour with The Discret charm of the Bourgeoisie. Like Catherine Deneuve in Belle du Jour the Pressiat woman leaves her  bourgeoise day life to live out her fantasy as a prostitute. The setting was the Carmen, a Parisienne little secret in the Pigalle district.  Conventions are thrown aside and self expression takes its place.

“Our heroine is the emblematic Pressiat woman, a warrior filled with the force of nature.”

The collection includes classic pieces like tailored suits and more dynamic pieces which reveal skin and sometimes are pulled together in corsets. Could not help thinking of my dear friend Mr. Pearl.

Textiles include fetish latex, silk, tulle, velvet and surprisingly, tweed, faux lizard and poulaine and wool.

The no-gender brand was launched in March 2021. Vincent Garnier Pressiat worked for John Galliano, Maison Margiela, Saint Laurent and Balmain. His creations are featured in season 3 of Emily in Paris.

Later,

Diane
