Dries Van Noten – the beauty of the collection had some in the audience near tears…

Dear Shaded Viewers,

As a forever admirer of Dries Van Noten, dating back about three decades, at first I was a little surprised at the location, the  Dôme de Paris,  an indoor arena located in the 15th arrondissement at the Porte de Versailles. The space is enormous and the staging quite spectacular with models on catwalks interspersed between the rows of seats. Any item in your closet from Dries is timeless, there will never be a sell out date because what he creates is pure beauty. Colours and textures are part of the inner heart that beats through the entire collection. He puts the precious and rarefied with the raw, it is the casual chic of all the pieces that makes them not only a pleasure to wear but to cherish. This season there was a sliver of gold in the invitation which showed up in certain garments. The gold foil was incorporated into some of the pieces like an artist to a painting or a photograph.

By now you know that Dries has one of the most beautiful gardens from which many an inspiration takes full bloom. Rugged wools sculpt the body, corsetry devices are brought into a contemporary sphere with golden embroidery. The collection is a celebration of craftsmanship, artistry and just pure beauty. Bravo once again Master Dries Van Noten.

Diane
