Comme Des Garçons Homme Plus – “tailoring of the avant-garde.”

Dear Shaded Viewers,

The show took place in Le Temple du Saint Esprit which seemed the perfect setting for the “tailoring of the avant-garde” collection. Models walked the catwalk appropriately wearing abstract crowns of thorns. In a season where the emphasis seems to be on tailoring you can be sure that you will never find the expected form at Comme des Garcons, here jackets were deconstructed some with tubes of fabric protruding from fronts or backs of tailored jackets. I could not help but think of the architecture of the iconic museum in Paris, Centre Pompidou. Other protrusions were in the shape of padded crescents. Fake fur was interestingly sliced and inserted into some of the pieces.  Everything was not black, there were plaids and colors like pink and blue. After the Olympics in Paris in 2024 the Centre Pompidou will be closed for 5 years, those protrusions will be like an homage to the famous museum, even if only in my head.
