Dear Shaded Viewers,
Huge thank you to Adrian Joffe, 35/37 dream team, SO/PARIS for welcoming my jury, WORLDNET for delivering the ASVOFF 14 trophy made by Miguel Villalobos from New York to Paris. So much fun to work closely with Richard Bhullar, Byronesque, Gill Linton, Justin Westover and INDIGITAL on the film. Bubbles by Zebra Champagne and cocktails by Chivas were deliciously appreciated by our guests, maybe too appreciated. A super pleasure to work with you all. Thanks to my treasured team with major players directors/producers: Juan Enrique Villarreal, Konstantinos Menelaou, Vincent Gagliostro and PR Stephanie Veuriot and team and Florian Mueller and team and my energetic and problem solving friend, Marco De Rivera. A big shout out for Lucien Heritier who never left our side and sorted everything instantly. Happy to say that it was an amazing four days of ASVOFF 14 at 35/37 for the second consecutive year. This edition put a strong light on documentaries and feature films and of course on the Official Competition, the Student Competition, our first Tik Tok installation by Ivo Barraza Castaneda, a Showcase of the Fabricant by co-founder Amber Slooten. External curations included short documentaries by David Herman, Chinese Productions, by Camille Mervin Leroy and Gemma A. Williams, Manga/Anime films by Charles Daniel McDonald, Conscious Fashion Films by Giorgia Cantarini, Black Spectrum by Melissa Alibo, Fashion Moves by Alex Murray Leslie. Opening night following Sara Driver’s documentary Boom for Real, the Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat. Opening night came to a beautiful conclusion with a concert from an angel, Jay-Jay Johanson, who also was a member of the jury, here is just a little soundbyte.
Day 2 ASVOFF 14 devoted an evening to Tim Yip’s Love Infinity. Tim stayed on a few days after ASVOFF to get started on his Paris version of Love Infinity which till now focused on East London creatives. Love Infinity had an installation as did MarieVic and of course Ivo Barraza Castaneda’s Tik Tok, mentioned above . ASVOFF provided the Paris Premier of Kingdom of Dreams which was done so well that people cannot stop talking about it. The beautiful documentary The Treasure of His Youth: The Photographs of Paolo Di Paolo by Bruce Weber closed the 14th edition of ASVOFF, the film was followed by a conversation by Bruce and the daughter of Paolo Di Paolo, Silvia Di Paolo.
