Imane Ayissi – a warm breeze from Africa at the Paris Haute Couture

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Last couture season Imane Ayissi was awarded the Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres, one of France’s most prestigious distinctions, he was pinned by Pascal Morand, Executive President of the Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, French high fashion’s governing body. The House of Saint Laurent  had sponsored his entrance onto the official couture show calendar.

Imane continues to blend African influences in his choice of graphics, textiles and colours.  My absolute favourite piece in fact was the black column finale dress with raffia. Raffia appeared like wings of a noble bird in flight. Chapeau to the designer from Cameroon, Paris loves you.

Later,

Diane
