40 years of Ann Demeulemeester’s universe on stage at the Stazione Leopolda as guest of honor at Pitti Uomo

Dear Shaded Viewers,

The long awaited Ann Demeulemeester retrospective took place last week at Pitti Uomo. Demeulemeester selected the pieces that she loved the most to showcase, it was also fun to see a few models that she’s worked with over the years, they like the designs, never seemed to age. The designs are timeless, pure and sculpted. Demeulemeester retired from her collection in 2013 and the designs are now created by a team of designers meanwhile  she is working with her husband Patrick Robyn and expanding the brand with ceramics, fragrances, tableware and furniture.

Ann Demeulemeester was acquired by Claudio Antonioli in September 2020 who treats the brand with great respect repositioning it for a strong future. Patrick Robyn renovated the 500 m2 Antwerp flagship store as one of the first initiatives when Antonioli acquired the brand. I remember in the 90’s while working for JOYCE, seeing Demeulemeester’s long haired son running around the show location and loved the wink to the past when a passage included a young boy in a Holy t-shirt reflecting those moments. Timeless, and authentic just like Ann herself and long live the brand.

Later,

Diane
