Matthew Zorpas in fiction film: ‘Le Moment’ by Archie Baker- 16 mm film “Be like water my friend”

Dear Shaded Viewers,

After knowing Matthew Zorpas, an influencer, for several years the London based director, Archie Baker, pitched the idea of making a film with Matthew as his subject. Baker’s idea for the film was to show the man within two worlds, one the material and the other nature. Outwardly Zorpas appears like he is living the dream life, immaculately dressed and confident living a grand life in London. From another dimension he hears a voice telling him he needs to rethink his life, something is not working and he needs to leave the concrete and get into nature so he can discover who he really is. Once in nature, Zorpas strips bare and what comes to my mind is Bruce Lee: “Be formless” “Be water my friend”.  In essence, people should not be trapped in a certain mindset they should be flexible in mind and body, be open to change and adapt. This is not in the director’s brief however it is how I interpret the message within the film.
