Celine Spring Summer 22 Featuring Lalisa by Aybuke Barkcin

Celine released the latest spring summer 22 collection with a 12-min film featuring BLACKPINK’s star Lisa (A.K.A. Lalisa), sporting the Triomphe bag in lime green.

Titled “Baie des Anges”, the upbeat film takes place in the iconic locations around Nice, starting with a Celine cruise ship out in the Mediterranean, to the Astronomical Observatory, taking us in front of the historic Le Negresco hotel and Villa Masséna. Try imagining yourself next summer, wearing Celine while you walk down the Promenade des Anglais… was clearly the message of the video.

Between the shots of Nice and the collection, you could get glimpses of the brand’s famous muses from Suzanne Lindon to Kaia Gerber to Lalisa. I think everyone would agree that Celine’s appointment of the Thai rapper and dancer as the brand’s global ambassador in 2019 was a clever move. With the most dedicated and passionate fans in the world, whatever Lisa wears, the Gen-Z gets… and this collection will definitely create a buzz amongst the Blink fans.

Since Hedi Slimane took control of the French luxury house, Celine turned towards a younger audience. Targeting the cool laid-back kids who are free from responsibilities and obligations… and of course with rich parents and lots of money to blow off. (To get a better idea of their attitude, watch Lisa’s latest single Money).

Continuing to push the luxe-sportswear aesthetic, Slimane has been trying to find a formula to make what’s casual… luxurious. This season was yet, another attempt at his vision, playing on the wardrobe essentials including; sweaters made of sequinned fabrics, varsity jackets with Celine logos, little black tops styled on top of tracksuit skirts, pussy-bow blouses with lean jeans, oversized hoodies matched with sequinned skirts.

But will ‘casual luxury’ be enough to please the new kids from the block? Maybe, but it certainly won’t please the fashion lovers.
