Cristóbal Balenciaga most certainly would be smiling as Demna presented his Haute Couture collection in silence, just masterful tailoring and sculpting with fabrics floated through the salon. “It is the most spiritual experience I ever had in fashion,” he says now, chiming with Cristóbal. “I feel like doing couture just makes me better as a person.” Demna told Tim Blanks in BOF. Demna’s silhouettes for men and women ranged from elegant ballgowns to re-interpreted puffer jackets and jeans. Along with the spectacular collection the salon was scented by equally subversive in the world of perfume, Sissel Tolaas, an artist-researcher of smells of all kinds. Demna’s wish was to smell like a church.
