F.A.K.E. Movement Unveils First Digital Fashion Event by Aybuke Barkcin

Dear Shaded Viewers,

The F.A.K.E. Movement standing for Fashion for Animal Kingdom & Environment launches the first Vegan and Ethical Fashion Museum. With the aim of building a sustainable, ethical and vegan fashion industry, the online event invites the public to step inside the three dimensional virtual universe and help connect participants with sustainable fashion brands.

“This venue is nothing like our movement has seen before. The F.A.K.E Universe is going to be the closest experience to meeting in real life in the midst of a global pandemic, which we have all been missing.” explained Jonathan Ohayon, the founder of the F.A.K.E. Movement.

As you step inside the virtual museum, the experience feels exactly as if you are inside a video game. You are first greeted at the lounge area where you are invited to grab a virtual goodie bag and free magazine. You are then left with the choice of entering the 2 main rooms in the space; the museum and marketplace. The museum welcomes you in with various artworks made with sustainable and ethical tools from up-coming artists and a series of posters which highlight the unethical practices in the fashion industry ranging from the use of animal leather, cotton, mica mining… With one click on the poster, you are directed to a page which presents background information on each subject in detail, explaining the ecological damage the practice causes to the environment and society.

You are then invited to join a series of talks in the conference room on topics involving leather alternatives in fashion, educational activism, veganism in sustainable fashion, sustainable development and fair trade with host speakers Hannah Michaud (founder of Beyond Leather), Ryuji Chua (animal-rights filmmaker), Noa Ben Moshe (founder of Style with a Smile) and Soreyda Benedit-Begley (award-winning fashion designer).

The last room in the virtual universe is the marketplace which aims to promote ethical small businesses and allow participants to discover sustainable fashion brands. Filled with numerous designers, the visitors are given the opportunity to chat with designers, hold live sessions, ask questions and learn about upcoming events.

The three dimensional world comes amid social distancing measures that leave all of us hungry for new online adventures. The F.A.K.E. Universe overall presents an interesting and informative experience that helps visitors network with like-minded people.

Definitely worth a visit!
