Submission for ASVOFF 13 are Open on FilmFreeway by Aybuke Barkcin

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Submissions for “A Shaded View on Fashion Film” are now open on FilmFreeway.

ASVOFF, the world’s first film festival dedicated to fashion, style and beauty will host its 13th edition of the festival this year from December 3rd – 7th. Mark your calendars!

The five-day online celebration will feature the best emerging voices in the luxury fashion and film industries, and will be broadcasted globally on FNL Networks, reaching an audience of 64 million subscribers and will be available for viewers to watch for the entire year.

Since 2008, ASVOFF has gained international acclaim for challenging both emerging and established artists to rethink the way fashion is presented, bringing attention to the importance of digital communication through fashion films.

Speaking on the festival, “First and foremost, this 13th edition reflects the quintessence and fundamental approach of ASVOFF; unveiling a certain feeling, boldness emerging from talented, passionate young creatives. The complex, prevailing environment of social-economic tensions has significantly affected the number of opportunities for artists. Our mission is to preserve, support, and illuminate the artistic aura and perceptual uniqueness of independent voices in fashion and film – by giving them more space in the program than usual,” says ASVOFF’s founder Diane Pernet.

The festival’s 13th edition will continue hosting interviews with the industry’s leading experts on the series “Industry Tea Series”, talking about diversity, inclusivity, cultural symbolism, sustainability, digital fashion in filmmaking, documentary, art direction. But different from past years, fashion icon Diane Pernet will introduce a special program involving 3 new themed award categories that dive will into sustainability, digital fashion and the Black Spectrum in the fashion and film industries..

This year’s grand jury will include renowned artists, designers, content creators who are committed to encouraging new talent and promoting diversity across the world of filmmaking with internationally acclaimed film director Bruce LaBruce as ASVOFF 13’s Grand Jury President. The jury will consist of: Roisin Murphy, Osei Bonsu, Yu Masui, Pam Hogg, David Ninh, Alex Murray-Leslie, Helen Downie, Bryanboy, Lulu Kennedy, Kayaan Contractor, Susie Lau, LUTZ, Willy Ndatira, Daniel Lismore, Suzanna Vock, Andre Walker, Sara Sozzani Maino and Suzanna Vock.

“We will create a series of candid, intimate interviews with directors, 3-D Fashion Design, and museum curators from around the world,” says Pernet. “A snapshot of this series proves that the pandemic has only helped boost the international diversity of the program.”

After a difficult year with the pandemic, ASVOFF13 aims to prove that despite the disruption, artists continue to rediscover their potential, demonstrate strength and push limits of creativity in the world of film-making.

“This year, the terminology ‘resilience’ resonates more conspicuously amidst the young-at-heart visionaries. Despite the tumultuous time, rather than feeling compromised, filmmakers are navigating their potentialities through introspection, stimulating their creativity, self-awareness and pushing others to harness their highs and lows or straddle extremes like claustrophobic silhouettes and epic Eden-like landscapes”, comments Diane Pernet.

The deadline for submissions is July 31st 2021.
