Abdel el Taybeb is a designer from La Cambre. He recently showed a collection as part of his project for Masters2 and was awarded a prize for this project. The collection features inspirations from aristocrat French clothing mixed with sudanese aesthetics. The hats were inspired by artist and sculptor Brancusi. There is a modern sensibility within the collection which is reflected in the way the designer questions the concept of the ideal body by deforming it with his garments into non classical senses of female proportions.
“The collection addresses the lack of identification and reconciliation of ancestral heritage with the contemporary world, which some Afro descendants in European societies may feel”.
