Cyril Duret Always in Summer – Exhibition at ICONOSCOPE in Montpellier until December 19th

Dear Shaded Viewers,

I met the artist Cyril Duret through Nadia Candet’s Private Choice when she commissioned him to paint my portrait.

Cyril Duret’s paintings could appear in fictions. They combine different possibilities from the history of art: worldly or interior portraits, 1970s images of uncertain date and impure style, staged paintings.

The painter often takes as models protagonists of the art world, or movie actors that he takes in their interiors or in culturally charged places.

His work questions the personal relationship one has with art and culture and challenges the linearity and usual hierarchies of art history.
