MARCHE ET DÉMARCHE. A history of the shoe from November 7 – February 23 at Musée des Arts Décoratifs

Dear Shaded Viewers,

The current exhibition explores the different ways of walking from the Middle Ages to today spanning the years as well as various cultures. It studies how men, women and children have walked over time and in different social groups. It is a bit overwhelming with nearly 500 pairs of shoes, paintings, photographs, art objects, films and advertisement from public,  private and foreign collections. You also have a room where you can try on an iconic pair of shoes. Just try and walk in them…see how you feel and then you understand the effect shoes have on how you hold your body.
