Sangue Novo – Young Designers Competition and my weekend at Moda Lisboa

Dear Shaded Viewers,

This weekend I was on the jury for the Sangue Novo Young Designers Competition, the President of the Jury was Miguel Flor. The six finalists: Archie Dickens, Carolina Raquel, Federico Protto, Opiar (Artur Dias), Rita Carvalho and The Co.Re (Inês Coelho and Rachel Regent).

Polimoda offered one Portuguese student a spot in Polimoda’s Master in Fashion Design. Polimoda Director Danilo Venturi was on the jury along with: Miguel Flor, President of the jury and Creative Director of Principal Magazine; Alfredo Orobio, founding designer of Awaytomars; Cláudia Barros, Fashion Director of Vogue Portugal; and yours truly. The top national talent was offered a scholarship worth  € 26,000 to attend the upcoming Polimoda’s Master in Fashion Design beginning in April 2019 or October 2019, and will receive an additional € 5000 from ModaLisboa to be used towards living expenses for the duration of the program. Carolina Raquel was the lucky winner. Federico Protto received the International Prize and Archie Dickens received the Feeting Room Prize.

After the jury I had a little chat with my favourite model of Moda Lisboa Joaquim Arnell. He’s 18 and has been a model for 3 years. One year exclusive with Prada and this year he did Marni in Milan and Yohji in Paris.

Later,

Diane
