Back to Basics: Tom Ford Fall 2019

 

 

TOM FORD returned to the familiar this season. Feeling reminiscent, the designer concluded, “Living in Los Angeles as I have for the past two years, I find that color is more important to me than it was when I lived in London. A softer color palette seems right to me this season. ”

Intuition assigns romance to red, tranquility to pale pink and a sense of comfort to caramel. Favoring instinct, Tom Ford’s fall 2019 collection captured the sensibility color brings as it relates to fabric and silhouette. In the same way, poetic language explains: roses are red, and violets, blue, an emotive experience lives in encountering color. Its impact is vibrational.

The proximity between formal and relaxed fashions elevated the experience. A black cashmere hooded pullover with a pouch pocket for true athletic appeal paired to a faux fur cropped evening jacket, while a navy pinstripe woman’s blazer completed a full look suit in his menswear. Dynamics continued between pinks and reds, silk and velvet. Among the polarity there is harmony.

And just when you thought the collection was too ordinary, and fashion was normalized to hoodies and trousers, Ford ends the show with a custom Swarovski crystal full-length gown. The concept of elevating simple clothing fulfilled
