Plume au Carre by Patricia Dinev

Dear Shaded Viewers,

I know Patricia Dinev from back in the days when I was a designer in New York and she was a model and an aspiring actress. Decades have passed and now Dinev is creating accessories. Dinev considers working with feathers as a therapy. They are impossible to control so the act of working with them has taught her to let go and to welcome the unexpected.

“Drawing lines and squares with this material was the next step, a way to go deeper into my quest. Going along with that challenge, I forced each feather into straight shape, but i found a real accomplishment when i saw the lines getting blurry, when the idea of the square remains as the feather is emancipated. Suddenly, a new balance occurs between wilderness and order. This moment was totally magic to me, i can’t even describe it!” says Patricia Dinev.
