Something Delightful: A Detacher Fall/Winter 2018 text by Valerie McPhail

Fashion’s eternal statements deliver quietly, and delicately, materializing an adoration for clothing’s design, mission and operandi. Look-by-look, A Detacher offered its tender heart throughout their Fall/Winter 2018 show. Oversized knits, mixed prints and tall boots romanced a runway gathering of guests avoiding an inclement New York City night. And oh when it rains it pours in the city, making the most fashionable nights gloomy. Regardless, Monika Kowalaska’s designs lit up the runway and guided us to a happy place.

Pixelated floral prints, reminiscent of vintage wallpaper blossomed on blouses and peasant dresses. Nostalgic 90’s looks appeared as street style’s favorite boyfriend jeans paired together a turtleneck and blazer along with belting a sashed sweater in a second look. The nature of this poetic collection inspires a pilgrimage for clothing that carries significance beyond the material. Much more than just fashion, the label seeks to provide clothing purposed with functionalism.
