For Him and Her: Miguel Vieira SS18 text by Valerie McPhail

Sporty, glamorous and boldly elegant, Miguel Vieira carries a contagious spirit of vitality familiar to the industry, but yet rarely encouraged. In the season of gender fluid fashion, this collection carries purpose. Among the male and female designs a conversation between comfortable sportswear and fierce evening looks create an approachable atmosphere, of taste and expression.

Opening the show, a sleeveless tank and matching pant with glittered abstract shapes dazzled with movement along the runway. A fringe hemmed mini dress was another piece of the collection that marked Vieira’s classic sense of sophistication.

One bomber jacket decorated with silvery patches replicating tile pieces coordinated to a uniform mini skirt. This particular piece set precedent for the sportswear styles – a graphic pullover illustrating artistic illusions of a flowered brooch made in the image of pop art. Men’s looks carried the presence of casual clothing: leather tote bags accessorized with the infamous sneaker paired to slim trousers and graphic tees. This collection was fluid for those who share a refined sense of style.
