Dear Shaded Viewers,
2017 celebrates the 100 th birthday of Irving Penn, one of the 20th centuries great photographers. In collaboration with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, le Grand Palais pays homage to the artist that can make a cigarette butt look majestic and as powerful as a portrait of the great Charles James or Issey Miyake not to mention Yves Saint Laurent, Pablo Picasso, Alfred Hitchcock or a coal miner or purveyor of leather skins. He is known for his immaculate studio portraits.
